heavyweight night

I sit here waiting for the champion on champion heavyweight world title bout to start and its with tales of the heavyweight line up of poker that has taken place previously in the night with Lloydy hosting 16 players round his gaff that I shall tell.
A last minute call up due to drops outs was the cue for bigbetts to join the competition. On the face its a rag line up, bignames including owen, mike britton, steff mitchell, terry jones and mike jeal and you know its going to be tough work! It so happened that my 1st table consisted of courtney, nrlinco's, coolhand r kelly and lloydy himself. So on the face theres abit of competition.
I found myself raging early doors on this table, courtney had already lucked 600 out of me by calling my top pair off the flop and then i hit 2 pair on the turn, bet again and the river to give a 7, making the board 6 q 8, 9 7 .. and all of a sudden my q 9 is beat by any crappy 10 and 5, i check into courtneys 500 bet and i fold showing my 2 pair. He said he had the 5 and ive no doubt he was telling the truth.... fiiiiiish!!!! The blinds move onto 50/100 and theres already 3 limpers in the pot before I wake up in the sb with qq, naturally its a 350 raise to chase some of the limpers out only for courtney to reraise me to 1k from the bb. Everyone folds and its time to think, I'm not putting him on a higher pair thats for sure and its poss ace jack in that range!! So to keep it honest i reraise and make it an extra 2k to go... Courtney calls without hesitation. Flop A 9 8. Joy just what I didnt want to see, so I bet out 1k to see where I'm at... Courtney replies I'm all in!!!! Oh dear, its to early for him to be wanting to give his chips away so do i put him on an ace or another high pair something in the JJ range.. after 5 mins in the tank i reckon hes got the Ace and fold showing my QQ as I heard nrlinco talking putting me on the ladies... Courtney had told me he'd show when i was thinking and flips over ace 5!!! Nice laydown from bigbetts although Im fuming, hes playing rag ace, hits and I overhear Mike Jeal say good bet courtney. (mmmmmmm) The dealer dealt the hand out, I never asked him to and the turn came 10 and river J.. I would of won with a straight although I still say its a good fold. I've no qualms with Courtney if hes playing AK or AQ/AJ but to call with that and hit.
So were on level 2 and I'm sat on 4.5k and defo in tilt mode, I can see an early exit in this weak field will be a laughing stock from certain members of the 8's!!! Stef Mitchell had already exited..... My name was on 15th!!!
The only thing on my side was the 30mins blinds and my sober state of mind.. 2 hours later and i've pulled my stack back to where it had started and now the blinds were 300/600 when the key hand for me occurred. 2 limpers to me and I'm on the button with KQspades, (how pretty this hand looks, how poor it plays) so I flat call, usually I'd raise if no ones entered the pot before me, but seeing as I had position in the hand I called. Courtney whos now a few more bottles into his night raises 2k from the sb, and nrlincos in the bb calls as well as rkelly from is utg postion. Courtneys raise doesn't scare me though Neil must be calling with 2 picture cards I summise and Rkelly with a pair or Ace 10. As i'm getting massive pot odds I call. Flop K 9 8. Courtney checks and Nrlinco's moves allin. Rkelly moves out the way and I dwell up, I have nrlincos covered although it leaves me 2k... I decided to push allin as I'm putting neil on a weaker king. K10, KJ range... Courtney folds and its flip em time.. KJ for Nrlincos and its the pot to betts as Neil doesnt improve and now I'm in the game. I must add nrlincos did one sharpish and wasn't to happy that betts had took him out!! He knows how much gloating I'd prob give it in the future!!! haha, who moi???
So I'm above average stack on final table and courtney gifted his chips to chewy along with richy wallace when they went allin with chewys bullets. Courtney J3 sooted and Richy's 84 off were no match! Rkelly ground it down to 6th place when chewy eliminated him. So its a final 5 of Mike Britton, Mike Sears, Ducey, a chipped up Chewy and bigbetts....... easy money. Mike britton elimitated ducey and chewy a hour or so later and we were down to 3. Betts had taken alot of chips of chewy though mike b was chippy with the double takeout!! Payout was top3 so its happy days.. After letting mike sears back in it, it was mike britton to take 3rd after a series of power plays from betts left him with bare bones.. One betts masterclass was raise preflop with j3, q high flop comes down and I fire again. Mike B calls so I'm now thinking he has the Q.. shit. Turn comes Ace, I fire again. To which he calls. shit, river a blank so its check and lose or bet big leaving myself seriously shortstacked if he calls. I fire out 16k, leaving 20k behind. To my relief he folds and I show my J3 for a round of nothings!!! he called me a winker as he'd folded a pair of q's... Masterclass I thought to myself as I raked in a massive pot of 40k.. He bit the dust not long after and we were heads up, betts 83k to Mike Sears 77k... straight away he went for the deal!! Not a chance I thought, but how do I get home, made a phone call and my lift said it was better if they took me then. So to get a last gamble in I said we'll deal one hand out blind, the winner gets 140 and the loser 120. My Ace 6 wasn't enough against Mike S's Q3 and he took home top dollar. Still an equal 1st in my book in a field of 16 and theres a smile on my face. I know what the league leader says 'look at the competition and I'd expect no less' true I agree but with so many loose canons and Courtney sending me over the edge it was nothing but discipline and the fear of being lambasted by AKQ that made me get a hold of the situation.
Cheers to the techies, admin guy and yanks who have paid for my motor to have a new tyre!

I know theres no official event 2 for a while, although I'm going to host a one table round at mine on Friday 29th Feb seeing as I not only fetched the money home I also had the nouse to bring the chips back to the flat. Will invite you's all in the week!
