10 dollar high stack

Post  bigbetts on Mon Jan 28, 2008 2:53 pm

On Thursday 31st Jan at 2015 local time the 10 dollar high stack gets under way on ladbrokes, after last weeks 4 entrants into the 4 dollar high stack.. alot of fun was had by all. I hereby challenge all super 8 players to enter this game. Results can then be banged out under this thread.
Neal!! if you fancy playing it, im sure you'll be able to use harvey's/ste horne's account. I can't see this being a problem.

Hope to see you on the felt!

10 Dollar High Stack Predictions

Post  King_Fish on Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:16 pm

With tonights high stack due to start in 5 mins there's been a pretty poor turn out from the super 8, with Imac refusing to show up because he can only play against the weak players in the 4 dollar.

Tonights predictions Bigbetts to go out first hand with a monster hitting a bad beat on the river.

AKQ-Carloss getting over confident after one too many bluffs paying off and getting knocked out in 50th.

LLLLLoydy playing well for the first couple of hours till the drink kicks then then going all in with his pocket *'s thinking they're invincible and getting taken out by AA.

Is Stevie horne playing as him self or is a member of the super 8's playing on his account??

Re: 10 dollar high stack

Post  bigbetts on Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:29 pm

So the action started with 103 runners! quite a poor turnout and 4 of the super 8's were in attendance. AKQ started by entering pots for fun and hence his stack was fluctuating and he ever really got the bigstack is game needs to thrive. Lloyd was up and down like a yo yo and des seemed to be playing conservative poker hitting big hands and steadily building a stack. Betts was playing very quiet knowing the longer format should suit his stlye...
The first casualty was lloydy who at the time was chipped up with almost 9k. I joined the hand post flop and it was 986 rainbow. lloydy bet out and was reraised allin. He promptly called and wasnt happy when his A9 was up against KK. 2 blanks came down and lloydy exited in 72nd and ran up the stairs to prod the missus!!!
The first break came and the boys were not making any inroads into the field. Betts had folded
JJ to a q high flop when 2 others were in and the betting went bet, raise reraise. So i'd say a good fold!
It wasnt to long before betts hit the rail, after being outplayed in the bb and losing 1k to the sb he found KQ in the sb and raised it up 4x, the K high flop looked tempting enough and a continuation bet ensued. I was reraised allin prompty and without thinking through the hand found myself instacalling. Matey flips over AK and it was to the rail in 60th. I had just berated Carl for calling a 5.5x raise with his KQ only to find his probe bet pushed over the top off and a fold for carl with top pair proving to be a good decision when his oppo showed the bullets!
It wasnt long before carl was watching the darts just like betts as he got involved in a 3 way pot with 99. the board came down QJ8 and carl was calling 2 bets before him. Turn comes down a 4 and one of the field folds but carl's still there. A 2nd Q on the river.... which gave carl 2 pair, but still behind to any J or Q. The oppo bets a 1k and carl pushew with his last 1.7k only to find matey calling with a Q. In my eyes he was behind all the way but his comment of 'i was rivered' somewhat lost me!! However we were down to 1 and kingfish has the ammo to go deep in these events, he pulled in a further 2k to get up to 7k and then found himself involved in a hand with A9 against his oppo's A8. The board of 385 and oppo bets the pot which was about 2k, now making a 4k pot and kingfish pushed with his last 5k, playing as if he had an overpair or a draw... however the oppo holding deadmans hand couldnt find the fold button and called and blank blank left kingfish walking like the rest of the super8's in 41st position.
Overall a poor showing by the boys who must improve to make final tables, Carl too involved, Scotty on a promise, Betts not listening to himself and providing double standards which equated to v poor play. Des wasn't switched on and needed to go running back to his flat! No real plaudits by anyone and you'll have IMAC crowing about how hes the only player to go deep in such fields!!! Betts will be bk and he was freerolling due to a succesion of H/U victorys earlier int he day. Its on to the 5 doll 2nd chance for me and a rethink of gameplan!!!

final positions.

Lloydy 72nd
Betts 60th
AKQ 51st
Kingfish 41st

better luck next time chaps!!!

Re: 10 dollar high stack

A very fair assessment of proceedings from the number 1 seed.

However, initial indications that AKQ was good to play by giving his missus a few beers and a bit of slavver now and again turned out to be a bad call.

Too much caning Betts, LLLLoydy and King Fish and not enough cooing over her nice smile, left me in 109th position in the bedroom, a poor showing at 51st and a morning shift to look forward to..... Sleep Sleep and Im spent.

Re: 10 dollar high stack

Post  bigbetts on Fri Feb 01, 2008 2:33 pm

bad news all round. After is poor showing in the ten dollar high stack, ladbrokes veteran bigbetts moved onto the 10 dallar rebuy with a 4k prizepool! After a few recent upbeat performances he was feeling rather confident.... his mindset was good and nothing to get up for mean't no lapses in concentration should be forthcoming... After 4 hours and 170 oppo's biting the dust, the numero uno from laddies makes his first final table in a while. Oh yes I'm chipped up with roughly 80k and running 4th and bang on the average stack. 3rd hand of final table I'm mid position and i pick up the ladies. blinds are 4 and 8k and an early raises splashes the pot with a 19k raise. 2 options, 1st call and if its comes down AKx then i can get out of there, 2nd this chap has more chips and my allin push could make him fold plus squeezing any potential runners behind me from entering the pot and getting some value with their marginal holdings. I choose the latter and push, everyone folds round to the original raiser who calls and flips AK.. (it sooo overated this hand but it always hits on laddies so no complaints for him playing it) flop comes down 10J6, yes keep it low.... turn K, shit now give me and ace or 9. river 7. and im on the rail taking hoime minimum profit although a serious upturn in cardplaying.
I'd almost forgot what it was like to make a final table!!!! Would anyone of folded the Q's played this hand differently? if i'd have won that pot I go chippy and confident of a big pay. 1st prize was over 1k!

Is this a change in Betts luck? is this badnews for the rest of the super 8's. Cause believe you me sunshines, a conident bigbetts is totally a diff proposition to the shadow who turned up for event 1!!! be warned!
